For our second day in Japan, we headed to Yokohama, then on to Toyko to connect with Andrew Shuttleworth, a friend who lived in the area.

Jason Dunn > We went out for dinner, and figured we'd try a little hole in the wall tempura place. It was...interesting. We thought that since the tempura orders were $26 or so, they'd be fairly large, so we only ordered one. Big mistake - there wasn't much tempura, and the two kinds of raw fish ended up being fish that neither of us liked the taste of. Well, Ashley wouldn't even try it, and I took a few nibbles and that was enough for me. The soup wasn't very tasty either. Great rice though!

Jason Dunn > When space is at a premium, people eat in front of the kitchen. We noticed one of the cooks had bright red hands, likely from tempura oil accidents. Ouch!

Jason Dunn > Jason was still quite hungry after the tempura experience, so we went to a very American-sounding restaurant and he got some cherry pie. Mmm!

Jason Dunn > After dinner and dessert we figured we'd need something to snack on for the next day, so we headed over to the local convinience store - it's really amazing the sheer variety of snack foods the Japanese have to pick from.

Jason Dunn > You can get anything in a plastic container, even things you'd expect to only be served fresh.

Jason Dunn > Dried...stuff?

Jason Dunn > If there's one thing I enjoy. it's the tender smell of the sea...in my food.
