Tofino 2009 : Ashley's sister Chelsea Skolny married Ryan Fornataro in Tofino, BC, in August of 2009. We flew into Comox, rented a car, and drove to Tofino. The wedding was lots of fun! I didn't take any photos of the wedding because they had a professional and I was busy filming it.

Canmore Vacation 2009 : Our week-long, very relaxing vacation in Canmore, where we didn't do much more than read, watch movies, rest, walk, and eat out every night. It was sort of a culinary tour of the city in a way - we tried to eat at bunch of different places for dinner. I didn't bust out my DSLR once, so these photos are all taken with my Panasonic TZ5.

Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico 2008 : At the end of November, Ashley and I went down to Mexico for a week to relax and unwind. It mostly worked, except that I picked up a cold bug on the plane and within three days I was quite sick with a head/chest cold. We still managed to relax, drink a lot of virgin pina coladas, and enjoy ourselves.

Japan Day 14 : Our 14th and final day in Japan didn't last very long: we got up early, headed to the Okinawa airport, then flew to Osaka, then Vancouver, and finally back to Calgary. We had an amazing time in Japan, but it was great to be home!

Japan Day 13 : It was almost time to go home by the time we were on day 13 in Japan, so we wanted to make this a special day by going to an aquarium we had read was world-class. We spent a bit of time in the morning walking around the area, which included an animal petting zoo of sorts. After that, we walked over to the Okinawa Kaigan Quasi-National Park, which didn't seem like much of a park, but it did have a lighthouse that we climbed to the top of. We spent the afternoon at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, where I enjoyed shooting some amazing sea creatures.

Japan Day 12 : Our twelfth day in Japan had us first going to Ryukyu Mura, a historical village where they re-enact what Okinawan life used to be like in the past (I'm guessing 100 years ago, give or take a few decades). It was a colourful, vibrant place, so I snapped quite a few photos. After that, we went back to our hotel for a couple of hours, and then we started our tattoo adventure - which had us going to a beach, an animal shelter, the tattoo studio, and then Tony Roma's for dinner. It was a very fun day, but by this point we were definitely missing home and looking forward to returning.

Japan Day 11 : Our eleventh day in Japan was our first full day in Okinawa. Since it wasn't as warm as we'd hoped, the whole lounging-around-the-pool plan went out the window, so we decided to head out to "American Village", a local North American-focused shopping area.

Japan - Day 10 : Our tenth day in Japan has us leaving Hiroshima behind, along with Honshu (the main island of Japan), and travelling by plane to the island of Okinawa. We didn't do much our first day in Okinawa, and were disappointed with how windy and cool it was - we were hoping for warmer weather!

Japan 2008 - Day 7 : Our seventh day in Japan was also our last day in Kyoto, so we took the opportunity to see some last sights before packing up and leaving for Hiroshima. Japan 2008 - Day 6 : These are our photos from our sixth day in Japan. This particular day we saw quite a few things, so it was hard to get the pictures down to a manageable number. Himeji Castle in particular was so beautiful I kept more near-duplicates than I would have normally.

Japan 2008 - Day 5 : Our fifth day in Japan was a busy one - we did our first full-day tour, which had six stops, including Nijo Castle, Kinkakuji Temple (also known as the Golden Pavilion), Kyoto Imperial Palace, Todai-ji temple, Deer Park, and the Kasuga Taisha Shinto Shrine. Many pictures were taken, and there's a video showing several of the sites as well.

Japan 2008 - Day 3 : Our third day in Japan had us waking up in Tokyo, and checking out of the very lavish Prince Sakura hotel to start our walking tour of Tokyo with our friend Andrew Shuttleworth. We saw a variety of places around the city of Tokyo, and by the end of the day we had the blisters to show for it! Warning: many of these pictures are of technology, which some of you may find boring - but Jason was in geek heaven. ;-)

Amsterdam 2007 : At the end of November I was fortunate to be invited to Microsoft's Mobius conference, so Ashley and I decided to go a few days early and see the sites in Amsterdam. Here are the pictures from our journey. We've added comments on many of these pictures because we discovered that if you use Picasa's comment feature, it embeds it into the EXIF comment field and Smugmug extracts that and shows it under the photo. Cool! Remember to click on the large version of the image to see it full screen (with the comments below), and that you can use the arrow keys on the keyboard to go forward and back.

Osaka Japan 2006 : On our way back from Thailand we had an eight hour layover in Osaka, Japan. Although we were very tired, and in need of a change of clothes and a shower, we didn't want to pass up the opportunity to see Japan for the first time. We're planning a trip there in 2008, so this was a good opportunity to get a "first look" at Japan.
